Visa aquired!

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

I got my VISA back to the State today!! It wasn’t as hard as I thought,
the guy who took my case was really nice, the whole process was over
within 2 mins.  But I spent hours waiting in the lines
though.  My appointment was 7:45am, and i got out around
11:30am.

There were 3 girls in front of me, I got to chat with them a bit, they
are from Beijing University, all going to columbia university.  I
thought one of them was college grad and applying for master, but
turned out she was going to a PhD program in Columbia University! She
looked so young, more like a high school girl, I couldn’t believe it.
maybe its just because I stayed in the US a little bit too long, now I
can’t cope with the age of chinese females anymore -.- this could be
dangers….(but i could still tell the other 2 were old, lol)
anyway, she didn’t get her visa right away cuz her documents were not
complete enough and they have to verify some of them, so she had to
come back couple weeks later after they call her.  I hope she gets
it eventually!

My mom got me a Panasonic cellphone, pretty cool looking, kinda like the one Naka has.  But it’s so hard to use, couldn’t find a thing I needed with the poorly designed menu.  It takes pretty good pictures though, but I have no idea how to get it off the goddamn phone to my laptop :P  So I had to switch back to my Nokia, what a relief, althrough not as cool looking but at least It does what I want it to do.

My laptop’s harddrive may fail anytime now, its making squeaky noise everytime I turn of the computer :(  It’s only half a year old, I hope it’s warranty is still vaild.

damn traffic made me wake up at 7 this morning, they just keep on honking their stupid horns, you’re not going any further so stop doing it!! that went on for about 30 mins till one of the accident finally got resolved and normal traffic restored.  Beijing’s traffic is so bad, feels like everybody is driving a F1, not the speed, but the effort of trying to get in front of other cars.  The taxi drives can usually squeeze into the tightest space with a doubt.  With proper training, they can probably race in Nascar or F1 with no problem…

I just paid a visit to my friend in TusingHua university, ate in their dinning hall, its much better than WAC’s, hahaha.  It was a big campus with so many bicycles, he said on weekdays before classes, the main road(a scaled up version of WAC’s cater walk) can have a bicycle traffic jam! imagine hundred some bikes clogging a road like Washington Ave. I told him to take a picture for me when that happens again.

Saw a movie called Banlieue 13 last night, a French movie. its pretty cool, action packed, lots of jumping between buildings, through tight windows, onto cars and stuff like that…  storyline is good enough for a action movie, but i just really enjoyed the insane jumping lol

travel is dirty work yo…

I’m finally back in Beijing,
so many
things have changed, I can hardly recognize my place!  Food is
absolutely
unbelievable I can probably eat something unique everyday and won’t
have to
eat anything more than twice till I leave in August!! I sweared that I
won’t even go into a single McDonald during this summer, but
unfortunately I had to compromise yesterday when I was in a hurry : P

StarWars III is out in Beijing too, I thought I have to wait 3 month
till I go back to U.S. to see that movie.  But with chinese voice, I
don’t know what Yoda will sound like lol

One thing I’m really enjoying rite now is the ETLP-everything low
price!  so goddamn cheap!  Food, books, cds, dvds(no bootlegged ones,
genuine copyrighted : D ), taxi, haircut…. you name it.   But that is
if you are earning greenback in the U.S.  For an average chinese
worker, a 20RMB (about $2 and 50 cents) Maroon 5 CD is still more
expensive compare to an average U.S. worker buying it with U.S. market
pricing.  But hey, I don’t mind.

I’ve spent most of my time here seeing relatives so far.  I have so
many of them, a good thing but also a bad thing.  Only saw 2 of my
friends, they haven’t change much, hopefully I can see more friends.

And something is pissing me off   I dont know what…. its making me
very uncomfortable, no reason, I need to find out why.  maybe jet lag??
